Attachment Therapy
With Jennifer Dodd, LMFT
Having moved beyond my own attachment-related issues, I understand how it shows up in every relationship, shapes how you respond to life, and what it takes to get to secure attachment.
Do you want love but find yourself afraid of it?
Do you keep ending up in relationship dynamics you already know aren’t working?
Some clients struggle with trust, people pleasing, or hiding what they really need. Others keep repeating the same patterns with partners, family members, friends or coworkers.
You can understand a pattern and still have a hard time changing it. Therapy helps you understand what keeps pulling you back and begin creating new patterns.
Clients Come To Me With
Stuck in patterns
Want a relationship but it stresses them out
Anxious attachment
Avoidant attachment
Difficulty trusting
People pleasing
Fear of being vulnerable
Repeating toxic dynamics
Fear of abandonment
How Attachment Therapy With Me Works
Attachment work with me isn’t just talking about your relationships outside of therapy. I pay attention to what happens in the relationship between us, too.
If you hide what you need, worry about how I see you, have a hard time trusting, or pull away when something feels uncomfortable, those patterns likely show up in other relationships as well.
We’ll connect those moments to earlier relationships and experiences, then work on understanding what you need and how you want to respond. I use both depth-oriented approaches and practical tools, depending on what we’re working on.
Modalities I Use
-
We explore early relationships with parents or caregivers and how they shaped your current patterns to help you understand why familiar dynamics keep repeating.
-
We look more deeply at patterns beneath the surface and help bring greater awareness to relationship dynamics and emotional responses.
-
This approach works with attachment-related trauma to support changes in patterns connected to earlier experiences.
-
We identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns to help with anxiety, self-esteem, and emotional regulation.
Stop Repeating Patterns. Get Healthy Love.
Attachment work is not about becoming someone different. It’s about understanding what has shaped your relationships so you make different choices.
After Working With Me
Clients report:
Spotting red flags earlier
Better partners
Less anxiety
Easier time with boundaries
New relationship patterns
Increased clarity about what they want
Healthier dynamics with others
More joy
The goal is to help you build relationships that fit the person you are becoming, rather than repeating patterns simply because they’re familiar.
“I understand how attachment affects relationships because I’ve healed it myself.”
About Jennifer Dodd
Hi, I’m Jennifer Dodd, LMFT.
I lead with warmth and directness. My own experience with attachment-related trauma informs how I understand the way attachment affects relationships, emotions, and patterns that are difficult to change.
Therapy with me is relational and collaborative. We’ll look at what keeps happening, understand where those patterns came from, and work toward healthier ways of relating. I want therapy to help you become clearer about what you need and more able to speak up for it.
If you’re ready to take the first step, I’d love to connect.
Availability: I provide in-person therapy in West Side LA, and virtual therapy via telehealth for clients across California.
